Early this morning at the B&B we met a professor of the Halifax University (Nova Scotia). He is studying the remarkable rock layers here in the region. Not only historical links but also geological links exist between the Old and the New Scotland, as they were - 3 billions years ago - two neighboring regions of a same continent !
This man's daughter is living in Lunenburg, so we urged him to tell her to go and see the Hermione, as Lunenburg is her last stop on the American continent!
We couldn't leave Lochinver, without a farewell celebration to the Suilven - our Scottish Fujiyama - through this family picture:
Then we drove further North, and did a small walk near Scourie, in a superb place. The unexpected sun turned the water of the lochs deep blue , the meadows green, the sheep white ...
As for the pigs you may apparently chose the color:
We arrived in Kinlochbervie at 3 pm, which left the 'walkers' only the time necessary for the planned walk (4h30) - before deadline for dinner.
The aim was to discover a sandy beach (the largest in the UK!?) which is only to be seen after an 8 km walk through the moor...We indeed got lost amidst the moor, were trapped in an enclosure with sheep and a ram ( slightly overstated)... After 30 somewhat difficult minutes, we managed to find a well-trodden path, and to discover at least the fine sand beach and the turquoise sea.
As a bonus we even could see a rocky stack detached from the cliff, like the Old Man of Stoer we saw yesterday.
5 hours walk without a raindrop !
The best reward was the evening meal in our Old School B&B !!
